intro to creative work portfolio
As a queer, mixed heritage Black American transplanted in the Netherlands, I am deeply interested in the development of identity and community in our ever-changing world, with respect to stories of those who came before us. I take immense joy in cultivating connections between ecology, food, farming, science, art, education, playfulness, curiosity, co-creation, representation, equity, and storytelling— integral pieces to my evolving definition of cultural sustainability.
Since 2020, I have been a freelance writer, baker, narrative strategist, and creative producer, working with creatives, chefs, and small organizations under the name, studio future ancestors.Additionally, I run the education programming for a non-profit food radio network based in the US, and produce multiple radio shows through that programming. My work focuses on cultural competency, personal narrative, and values-driven collaboration, which I am excited to continue evolving through the lens of curatorial practices.
personal project work: Lately, I have been focused on curiosity, grief, and recipes, and developing narrative-driven projects (written, and audio) about the intersections of these rich experiences, and how they shape our identities. I have also been developing my skills as an analogue photographer (self-directed), and finding ways to connect these learnings to the narratives I am developing.
